At some point you might consider switching to the Common Data Service or an Azure SQL database but it all depends on the number of concurrent users, number of transactions being updated daily, etc etc. Of course, in practice you'd never want to go up to 30M records. The documentation says you can do 5,000 records in a view and 30 million records in a list. Is built on SQL and can handle a tonne of data.
